Rose City Volksters, here is your chance to share your cooking skills with the other club members.

July 27 all active Rose City Volksters are invited to participate in a Rib cook off at Silver Falls State Park. RCV will help pay for the Ribs for anyone who wants to compete in the cook-off.

We will meet at the Fred Meyers on HWY 10 near HWY 217 depart around 9:30 am. For those of you that want to meet us there we have PIC-B reserved just show your membership card at the gate to get in free.

Those that are interested in cooking ribs please PM me (Smug) so we can make arrangements to get a rack of ribs for you.

Contest Rules:
Ribs must be cooked on site. You are allowed to prep the ribs prior to cooking.
There is a $10 entry fee and a prize will be awarded to first place.

We need people to bring side dishes as well as a couple of desserts. Please post what you are planning to bring so every knows.

Remember this is rain or shin we have covered area for this so come on out.

Bring your domino's, cribbage board or other games you enjoy.

Well, since the way I do ribs cannot be done on site I will bring a dessert.  This should be fun!!

How do you cook your Ribs? I smoke mine and will be bringing a smoker. I guess if you have to do something like Bake them you could do some of the cooking at home. And then Warm them at the contest. And for $10 Bucks you could afford to experiment :-)

I also slow cook the ribs using my smoker but my smoker weighs 300 pounds and will not fit in the frunk of my bug:-(  And lifting it into my truck can be a bear.  I will just bring a dessert.  I might be able to give my super secret spice rub to the highest bidder;-)

Are you planning to convert it to a BBQ so you can enter the rib competition????  I guess if Duane can make a sandbox out of one then you should probably be able to make a BBQ out of one:-(

I just got a new rib recipe from my grandma.  You guys are in trouble!

Also, will we have time to turn the Dasher into a BBQ by then?

Frito need you to contact Mark and give him your entry fee. To ensure we all are competing with the same type of meet the club is picking up the ribs. Entry fee is $10 per half rack.

Wow, i didn't realize how far out this thing is.  Gonna have to bum a ride I think. :P And I'll try and figure out how to get Mark some cash.

Hey is this event open to guests?  I'd like to bring a friend. Also, if I can't get Mark the cash I'll definately bring a dish.  Maybe some Kal-bi ribs or something.

I happened to mention the cookoff to a couple of the Absolutely guys and they said they may make an appearance.  Glenn said we were inviting more people...:thumbup:
