How about a 99 West Drive-In movie? I saw that another car club was doing one, and figured why not?

You will find a picture of the drive from a couple of years ago in the Events Gallery.  We participate every year that the other VW club sponsored a VW night.  I don't remember them doing one last year.  Actually, I don't even know if Ablsolutly VW is still around.  Anyone know?  If not, maybe we should sponsor it.

  • I figured since it wasn't being used I'd try it on

They are still around, and already have there event night there planned for Aug. I was going to suggest we do one earlier, and in fact was going to ask the officers if they minded if we had a couple of joint events?
No really...I do it for a living.

I can also verify that Absolutely VW is still in effect, I was checking them out as a possible club to join last fall... and here I am... anyway-   :?

:!: Has the club ever considered the Beaches PIR cruise ins? Wednesday nights in summer... classic VeeWees are desperately under-represented.  8O There are a few, but not in any serious numbers.    Speaking of which, how many members does RCV have?  :?:

BTW I saw a light green `65 (or so) at PIR last summer that had the WORST hand-done work for recovering interior panels and seats.   Kinda sad, since the owner was like in her 80s... I mean all power to her, but it was a big "note-to-self" moment, ya know what I mean?

Ever consider a bowling night?

  • Time to make the doughnuts....
tuesday night during the summer is the cheap night at valley lanes just down the street from the pizza place the meetings are held.
The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

I'd be really interested in events that are on a weekend. Weekday evening events are difficult for me.

We should approach Absolutely VW club about doing some joint events.  Perhaps an spring get-together would be appropriate?

The President is Ashley, the owner of Absolutely V-Dub Auto Parts in SE Portland.

IMHO: Publically available postings are nice, but they should be kept PC, and kind- no bashing, no ridicule, and ESPECIALLY no knocking other clubs. Would you agree?

I have been with Absolutely Volkswagens for about 6 months and I can tell you that Ashley is not the president of our club, hes not even an officer. I have spoken to him in the past as to why and he said it gets too politcal so he goes out of his way to be a regular member. I have to admit that I am new to being in a car club , but we all have a common interest that makes us all brothers and sisters. I cant speak for my entire club but why shouldnt we do events together? Just my 2 cents.

THere is no reason we should not. I hope we have quite a few functions together. The better to promote each club and the hobby we all love!

I'm glad that you guys are open to us doing things together. We have a meeting on tuesday the 8th, I can bring it up with them then. Nothing looks cooler than a bunch of Vdubs rollin down the road.
Thanks for the compliment on my paint too. My friend Dave at Country Roads Autobody did it for me. His shop is on SE 6th and Alder in Portland, right next to where Spikes upholstery used to be. He took it down to bare metal and shot it with Subaru world rally pearl blue base and clear.
