Hey there folks- well I like a lot of the attitudes and personalities that I am seeing on this forum, and believe that I will  want to join this club. I still need to attend a single-solitary ANYTHING and plan to do so ASAP. Tuesday & Thursday Evenings are usually really good for me, I am involved in a capital campaign until the end of June so it wil be hit and miss until then. I DO take my son to as many Wednesday night PIR Cruise-Ins as I can during the summer. (Funny story about how my no-where-near-show-quality bug got in and onto the grass- great stuff- but would be a blast as a group!! If there is one group under-represented at those it is VeeWees!!

Okay so I wasn't sure I wanted to post this kind of personal information, but since it looked like I will most likely become a memebr of the RCV, I though "What the heck" <- paraphrasing here. ;)

I call my bug "Hans", and it is a SpongeBob Reference (the show my son and I like most enjoy watching together). Hence the "Hans-terville". Anyway I do all of my own work, and between the "Idiot guide" and the Bentley guide IT WOULD SEEM that SO FAR I can pretty much figure anything out. (fingers crosser on that one).   8O
So as an experiment in indulgence...  8)
Here's a short list of ("Phase I") work that I have planned for the short term on my 69 bug - I've purchased everything, but I'm finding that time is far more expensive than money:
- door seals
- all signal assembly seals
- trunk and deck lid seals
- antenna
- washer system
- air-horns w/compressor
- ignition tumbler
- electrical short in passenger-side parking-light/rear-plate-light wiring run
- front right bearing cleanout & repack
- front axle zerk replacement & grease repack
- driver front and passenger rear floor pan repair (new quarter pans over old rusted ones)
- replace stock oil screen & cover plate with maxi-flow expanded sump puchased from cbperformance.com

Then, there's MY main engine issue right now: locate and fix serious vacuum leaks; possible gaskets on dual-port manifold- not sure exactly- just rebuilt H30/31 Carb, replaced the ole' plugs, rotor/cap, points/condenser routine, did the ole' point gap, timing, valve gap, routine and it starts right away, but won't stay running)

That's all for now... so not much really... just the easy stuff! ;)

Could be worse... keep telling yourself that dude- it could always be worse... get this, at one point my pan under my battery was so bad that I could see my battery hanging through the floor to the exterior, and actually placed some 1x3 side by side like slats under it, and it works great (but definitely not as a permanent fix)...

Couple things to add here:

1) I can weld your battery plate for you (Maybe that should be the next shop day?) I have a stick welder and the power to run it. In another life I was welding on ships.

2) Secondly I am attempting to create member pages where you could put up your own web page but it would only be a single page so I could put up a project BLOG for you guys if there is an interest in that.

No really...I do it for a living.

Hey there,

ragtopboy- it didn't bother me I "got his drift"...
azilla- did you notice the amount of time that passed between my two posts? LOL!
oldscool: good idea- project pages are always intersting and at best inspiring! :)
That spinning Gif I found makes me just wanna say WEEEOOOEEEOOOEEOO!!! I guess it just lacks some sound effect! Ya know what I mean? are ya feelin' me on this one?

Enjoy it though folks, I'll have a pic of Hans soon, and will replace it with that.

I had another 69 some 17 years ago (mustard yellow- factory red w/single coat of yellow, painted black bra, hand painted white yin-yang on that bra, and hand drawings in sharpie marker all over it of dragons, flames, mushrooms, and paisleys! It was a serious abomination...Hey I was 19-yr old hippie!! but I digress...) THE ONE THING that would have made the experience so much better would have been some 12 volt- antique VeeWee fellowship.... so there in lies my enthusiastic nature.   8)

I was thinking it but am not sure if I mentioned it but I got some replacement quarter panels for the front-driver/pedal assembly and rear passenger/battery compartment places and was planning on using black rain patch goop and pop rivets- or some steel-bonding epoxy, but if some one likes to weld stuff (oldscool) then I might be willing to reconsider! I would even be happy to share my tube of rain patch with other folks!

Cheers!

If I recall correctly both have joined the club, and are new members or members in waiting? Dunno would need to hear from El' Capi'tan!

Hey Todd, Raleigh here.  Not to be a pain in the you know what, but just a friendly reminder that it was agreed upon the club at our last meeting that "shop days" are in fact for paying members, if I heard this correctly.  Just want to make sure we are following our rules we have set forth for our club and what not!  :D

(Please don't take any of this personally Azilla, or Michael, think that is your actual name if I remember right.)

Wow. OldSchool. You can weld sheet metal with a stick welder!? Man. That cant be easy.

I have Oxy/Ace, Mig and stick.  I think I've used the stick wlder a total of 4 times on thick stuff.  I do almost everything with my Mig.

My most recent project:

I could assist with welding in the replacement as well.   :D

Oh. Uhm. Sorry for the thread HighJack.
