so get a fuel pump from discount auto import on hall,
get it put in
car ran for bout hmm 20 sec  mmmm 40horses
then dies
and cant get it to really turn over
the starter now seems to not wanna catch the flywheel
hell sounds like its jsut having trouble turning itself over...
just acts like its trying itself to turn over
yet the engine turns over by hand just fine

any ideas?

sorry i cant make meeting like i planned i thought it was at the round table on tv that is closer to me..and since i work graveyard i wont have time to make it to work on time

If it only ran for a few seconds, it was probably only the fuel left in the carb bowl that kept it running.

Check the pump and make sure that the fuel pump rod is in there and that inlet is really the inlet.  I had connected my pump up wrong a few weeks ago.

Don't assume it is line in at bottom and out at top.... I made that assumption and it was wrong.

Check the top of the pump and see if there is an arrow pointing "in".

If you got an aftermarket "Brazilian" pump it might be reversed.

i looked at the brosol box and after translating the Portuguese to english the top in the entrance of fuel bottom is the exit of the fuel

Did it end up working out for you?  I had a really bad time dealing with fuel system problems on my 66.
