Why would I buy new quality parts even if I had to save for them? I mean, I can buy used poop for half the price with no Warranty, or better yet I could re engineer it myself and hack it on there and then cry when it doesn't work.

well I fixed the leak the other day.  I used some fancy fuel injection hose clamps from Baxters.  They say they are for 1/4" hoses, I think that the fuel injection hoses have thicker walls as I had to crank them all the way shut to be tight enough.

When I pull the motor next I think I will redo all of the fuel lines to steel, with as little rubber as posible.  The cheapo clamps that I got at the store were the cause of the problem.  If I have to change anymore of them I will either use the american style or the fuel injection style with a thicker hose.

thanks the man and you are not all that late as I have only been working there for just over a week.  they really have there stuff togther and it feels nice.

so i work in north portland spitting distance from Emannuel hospital and i have to pass by the local Maaco shop.  this week there were two 73 super beetles getting painted.  both yellow and by different owners.  my car was telling me it needs some new color, but it knows that it has to wait a while...

I dunno as long as the body work underneath is done well the application of the paint is the easy part.

Plus that is what is on my car now from 32 years ago....

It has done pretty well for being painted by them in the late seventies.....
