Todd, I think it was indeed low, and the bearings were all replaced, along with the oil pump.  They put a guage on it again, and it was better.  the oil pressure light did not come on nearly as often as it had... so I hope this fixes it!
Who knew that a cheap little car designed for the masses at the whim of an evil dictator could be so very cool more than 6 decades later?

Oh, and I did see the old bearings / pump that were replaced.  I wanted to have him take the car back, but since the wholesaler has been putting money into making it right the lemon law does not apply.  I am hoping this does it, cause I love the dang car...

  • Time to make the doughnuts....
sounds like you found a good guy to work with.
The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

this is a 1.8turbo right????. Some of the problems could be due to oil cokeing. I've heard that this is a problem with a few years of the 1.8t's. Talk to Jay down at Waldenberg. They have had a few of the engines in with similar probs in the last couple of months....

OK, car is apparently fixed now.  Turns out there was a bad oil pressure sender, among other problems, but it should be all good now, I hope!  I will be getting it back tomorrow, if all goes well!
