We ended up cutting out the back floor and left the metal joist , wire wheeled them and primed with Rustolium Rust preventive primer. Also had to cut off all the jack supports they held water and dirt and rusted out and they look god awful from the side view. Can put jack in plenty of other spots to change the tires . And sprayed with Vinegar and water before priming . A guy on youtube says it eats most the rust and cleans the metal leave it on for 30-45 minutes then wash it off .

Thanks , my son and I pulled off all the wheels had him wire wheel and sand the front and backs of them then he primed them and we painted the backside off them Black the outside he wants red with white portawalls .I wish Discount imports sold the 14* ones because I seen the 15" ones for $59.00 a set there. Good Christmas present for this year . Last Christmas we bought him two new taillights ,a gallon of Rustomlium truck bed coating that I had him coat all the inside wheelwellls with , two front new turn signal lens so more stuff for next Christmas and Birthday.

They have a front floor pan for like $250.00 at cpi1 with shipping I think it's like $300.00 . It's not gonna be a show bus so at The Steel Yard on Columbia Blvd they have 16Ga 24"x24" sheets for $16.00 a sheet it takes three of them so $48.00 plus I bought a 20' piece of 3 3/4" wide 16ga for $14.00 to make into Angles and things where I need it. I don't weld so we are going to rivot and Vulkem the front floor pan in . Later we will seal and sound proof it 9" wide house window weather proof sticky seal . It's like Dynamatt but way cheaper at like Home Depot. Classic VW Beetle Bug How to Sound Insulate Deadening Vallone

First I used just a Brown bag to get a pattern then traced it on a oiece of cardboard to make sure fit is good then cut metal with a skil saw with $5.00 metal blade .

Heres my son cutting out rusted stuff like almost everything lol. We bought a 4 1/2" grinder from Harbor Frieght  like $15.00 and they have cutting blades that you can use on them also , works good.

At the Bug IN we bought a pair of turn signal bulb holders for $5.00 pr and a couple light buckets $20.00 for both. The glass is a little scratched didn't notice it, but buckets just need to be sanded, primed  and painted.
The Headlight Bulbs say 6v what will happen when I use 12V battery do I need new Headlights prob???

Here they are painted. Not perfect but it's the Budget Bus

 • Time to make the doughnuts....
You can either get a voltage step down or just get some 12v bulbs.

If you are on a shoestring budget....go to the U Pull It and get some there.
I did that when I had very little money and the bulbs I got outlasted my time with the truck.
The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

Then go and find your 12v conversion at the junkyard.
If you are crafty you can find a fuse panel you like and pull that and rewire from it as well.
