Hey folks!  howzit?!?!? I decided that I don't need any more friends that hate VWs, and that i need to associate with more people that dig 'em!  So here I am! At the moment i am driving a 99 mk3 2L 8v Jetta (silver arrow). Thats is, when it is running! Right now i am about to start in to putting in a new clutch... and deal with a cooling issue... then deal with the electric windows that are non-op!  Once those are all dealt with, i would like to put a stage one H&R or auto tech suspension on her before spring is here... so we will see!

Other then that... I am 39, I own a house in south beaverton, I am happily married, have two sweet little girls,  I am a graphics geek by trade, have a season pass to meadows (board-head), in to punk rock, alt and electronic. Grew up in SoCal, been here since 2004, by way of DC, Love the north west.... love VWs, air and water cooled... love audi.... cant afford at the moment! love rat-rods.... thinking about building a beetle rat....

any way looking forward to meeting you guys... and girls!  will try to make an appearance  tonight at the pizza place if it is still going down!

Latta!

-Bobby

Who knew that a cheap little car designed for the masses at the whim of an evil dictator could be so very cool more than 6 decades later?

welcome, glad to see another watercooled fella here. work through it with that car, get a bently manual and just take things one small project at a time and it will be done before you know it. those engines are strong and bullet proof. alittle love and they can be pretty decent runners

yea.... nice to see a few watercooled in this club! I will consulting with other watercooler owners to work out some of the wierd bugs. (trouble shooting the electric windows comes to mind) I got the Bentley book shortly after buying her in 2003.... it has been a life saver!

she been my daily drive since i got her.... due to home ownership and kids... i kinda neglected the the vw, so now it time to bring her back to life!

I am building a make shift engine sling out of some 2x6s and a steel pipe so i can pull the transmission, hopefully this weekend!  then on to the coolant leaks!

ya gravity.... its not just a good idea... its the law!!! i would ask around on here and someone might have a lift you can use. but at the verry least trannys arnt that hevy and you and ive found in the past if your putting the motor and trans intogether all asembaled on the front X brace thing its easyer to put it on a jig or stand and lower the front of the car over it then bolt it in place then jack the car up and remove the stand (i used cinder blocks when i did my golf) button everything up and away you go (sry about my horible spelling im a dyslexic redneck xD)

When I joined many, many moons ago...

I was the only one with a watercooler ('78 rabbit) AND a curved window super.

No love was had.

I am suprised that they didn't make me sit in the hall way and listen through the doorway....
