Run a centerforce clutch on my dads corvette. Very good stuff!

What are you planning to run for a power plant?

That would be the big decision maker for me.

I used to run a Kennedy stage 1 with a stock clutch disk and never had any issues.

Now I am going to run a new Kennedy stage 1 with a Kush lock disk, we shall see how the Kush lock works on the new combo.

I will be running a Kennedy stage 1 with a stock disk, I think.... for my estimates 130hp I may need a better disk though...

If your transmission is stock then that is the best way to try and ensure that it will not blow up when you dump the clutch and there is enough traction available to not spin the tire.  I would rather slip the clutch than blow the box.

Abuse the cheaper part.

thanks for the imput Peter..At first I will be running a 1641 and will be picking up a tranny from German Transaxle, but not sure of the set up yet as I haven't contacted them yet. But I will eventually be running either a 1904 or 1968 haven't decided yet so just trying to start making a list and buying what I can that would work with the 1641 but also be able to work with the stroker as well.

Dusty, you may want to avoid the 1968cc motor in a type 3.  Too much chance of warping the thin walls on the 92mm cylinders unless you get the thick walled ones.  Thats why I am building a 1956cc with 90.5's instead.

Buy the best tranny you will think you will ever need.

I should have gone up one level but at the time I bought mine I thought I was building a 1835....

Stage 1 clutches suck of you are planning to use the car as a commuter vehicle and will end up in heavy stop & go traffic.  My leg is killing me by the time I get to work.   :2down:

I agree with Peter.  Run a stock diaphram clutch (a little more power than the 3-finger style) so that you don't toast your tranny and it is comfortable to drive.  When you upgrade your engine just budget for a heavier clutch.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the input Mark. I think I got a real good idea of what I am going to do now.

So Mark, what about for my 1956cc? What clutch should I use?

Its heavy.

Just how dumb do you plan on driving it?

I would use a Kennedy 1 and Kush lock or Diakin disk.
Those two are what was recommended to me with my car and set up.

Cool, probably go that way as well. My 68 bug had a stock clutch with the 1968cc motor, never any problems. However, this one will have mucho more HP with big valve heads, etc...
