I have a set of those never had a problem with them.  They are easy to dial in, and get rid of that flat spot the single solex ued to have.

At least you have instructions.

I got my Kadrons in a box and the linkage from Totallyvw with the detailed instructions of "These came in a buy off craigslist and the PO messed with it.  I don't want to mess with it but I am sure you can do something with it."

That I did.

It sure did run well with those on it.

Nice im sure those were fun getting everything set up correct! I got everything together today and seems to be working well. i had some trouble once i hooked the throttle cable up to it. the linkage would not fully return to idle, the solution was i put some stronger return springs on and now its A Ok. Had a bit of a disaster earlier today. I took it for a drive and everything was good until it started cutting out. Soon enough i was on the side of the road trying to figure out why. After a quick glance at the motor i noticed oil was pooring everywhere! Appeared to be coming from the crank pully seal. Then i noticed that on the side of the fuel pump there is supposed to be a little rod going through it. Well this rod was sticking way out. My dad towed me home with a nice rope i happend to have and took the fuel pump off and put the rod back in. Problem solved. Started right up. But now what about the oil leak, i sprayed degreaser all around the pully area and cleaned it up real nice. Let the car run for a while and no oil is coming out. My conclusion was that oil must have been spitting out where the rod in the fuel pump is. Still not to sure but thats the only possible answer i can come up with. The car is running very nice now i still would like to get the carbs synced a little bit better they seem to be just a tad bit off but not bad. I had to do almost no adjusting to the idle or volume screw from where they came out of the box, which was very suprising. The cars got a little more pep but nothing crazy oh and i got to say it does sound alot beefier now!

That is why I wont run the mechanical fuel pumps any more. Had the same problem with two of them.
Who knew that a cheap little car designed for the masses at the whim of an evil dictator could be so very cool more than 6 decades later?

If you look through the Catbox files (page 15 reply 215) there is a detailed write up with pictures on how to cure the walking fuel pump push rod pivot.

So I switched motors in the bug it now has a 1600 sp from the chop top in it. The motor has a ton of power for a 1600 I don't know what's inside the case but I'm guessing it's not stock because it will rev to 5 or 6 grand no problem and has way more power then my 1600 dp with dual carbs.

My issue right now is it won't idle to save its life . Everything has been tuned right. Checked the idle shut off switch its good. Cleaned out the carb even switche carbs and still won't idle for even a few seconds. My last idea is that there is a intake leak since I had a hell of a time putting the sp intake on. If any one has any suggestions they would be very much appreciated. I hate to have to take it out and put the dp back in. If it turns out to be a intake leak I will be in search of some sp intakes for some 34 dual carbs since the stock intake has been one pain in the bleep to get on tight
