Negative.  Blew out another oil filter though and haven't had it on the road since the tow home.  Now that it is a little warmer I want to drive it some more.

Last I seen it... It was leaving a club meeting and he was nearly lifting the front of the bus off the ground  :slam:

I think that was just about the last time I drove it.  I had a meeting in Wilsonville either the next day or the next and ended up blowing the engine again.  I was able to limp it to work (in Portland) but it took about 4 quarts of oil to complete the journey.  It is now back in my shop ready for me to take the engine back out and do some repairs.

  • What?
No man it's not your fault. It is what happens when you run a non stock motor in your car. There is a period of working out the gremlins. Part of the game. If you want a non stock motor plan on parking your car for periods of time, and ripping out hair, bashing your head against the wall, etc. Especially true with larger motors. More CC's, more problems.

...and a knuckle head that wanted to outfit an old Bus with a turbo.

It's all good.  I want to have it back on the road in time for Cruise For The Cure.

You can do it!!!!
The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

Well, tore into my engine and found the issue.  It would appear that I have broken a piece off the #1 piston.

That chunk you see on the piston is supposed to be between the 1st and 2nd rings.  UGG!

 :stupid:

For a second I thought you were talking about me...

My take is build it to handle the pressure you were throwing at it, then dial it back a touch and then apply your motto.

So after some looking around I found out that Halsey Automotive had a set of 90.5 stroker pistons.  I headed out there and picked them up only to find out that the box was mis-labeled by the distibutor and they were standard pistons.  I took them back but it was the only set they had.  The good news is they had a set of 92mm Mahle strokers (visually verified) and now my bus will be outfitted with a 2074cc engine.  I pondered the option of going with 92's from the beginning and went with the 90.5's in an effort to minimize any issues related to heat.  With the limited amount of time on the road with the 2.0L I had no issues with heat so this shouldn't be ahuge issue.  I will start reassemling the engine this weekend and hope to have it back on the road and tested for Cruise For The Cure.  The non-carbonsealed turbo will continue to smoke at idle until I figure out if they make a carbonseal for my particular turbo (it's not a Garrett).
