As many of you know I am not a big fan of the stock engine.  After 3 years of collecting parts the time has come to upgrade the Bus.  I have scrounged up enough pieces to build a 2007cc engine (78x90.5).  If two liters of German super power wasn't enough I have pitched the dual carb plan for a turbo charger.  This build has been a challenge as I have never built a stroker from the ground up nor have I done anything other than normally aspirated engines.  The first thing I had to do was clearance the case for the stroker crank.  That in itself took two nights after work to finish.  I did not take any pictures of the engine assembly but will have some up of the completed unit soon.  The other challenge has been stuffing all the needed items in the Bus.  I now sport a Carter electric fuel pump with a Holley regulator.  Gonna need some extra fuel flow to support the Holley 350 cfm 2 barrel carb I am setting it up with.  The turbo is not a huge monstrosity, rather it is the exact opposite.  I am going with the T28 for now as I learn the ins and outs of turbo'ing.  I am also installing a remote oil filter and cooler.  Again, more challenges but nothing too crazy.  I have found that everything is taking longer than expected.  But speed is not all that important since my carb has not been delivered just yet.  One month ago I placed my order into A.J. Sims for one of his Holleys but I have not seen hide nor hair of it yet.  They stopped giving me estimated completion times and have now reverted to promising to call me when the start working on it.  Yeah, right.  Whatever.  My experience with the folks at A.J. Sims shop has been pretty neutral.  Not bad, but not great either.  Aside from shipping my rod bolt stretch meter to Ohio and taking over a month to build a carb it's been swell.

More to come....

Cool build Mark.  So the long block is done and waiting for the carb from AJ?  Have you considered running it NA for awhile to break it in and then switch over to the turbo/Holley setup?

The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

Actually I had not thought of that.  The engine is set up with 7.5:1 compression (that's kinda low) so it won't be a very strong engine with a carb.  And the cam shaft is specific to the turbo requirements so that could be an interesting experience as well.  However, I did consider contacting some of my V8 drag racing buddies and see if they have a holley two barrel sitting around that I could throw on it.  We'll see.  I am still about a week from putting the engine into the Bus as I button up the tin and tie up all the loose ends.  I am taking this opportunity to diagnose my fuel gauge troubles so my gas tank is out (it sits behind the engine).  I have been able to manage okay without a gauge since I bought the Bus (ran out only once) but I figure my fuel mileage may vary with the 2.0L.

At the time of my order I was #12.  They're not getting any faster it would seem.  You checked out that Kaddie Shack guy yet?

Yea I was at his house last Friday.  when i found out I was #35 and it would be so damn long I called him.  Bought the Weber 42 DCNF"s off him with race trim intakes and scat linkage.   Stand up guy to, I will definitely do busyness with him again and would recommend him to all.  His name is Jeff if you call  him

Might be done by the Beach Cruise.  The engine is together and I am cleaning up the tin and painting it up nice and pretty.

Dang, you're reading my mind.

Still no carb...

I still have to install the two oil coolers (the type-4 onboard and the external one) and run some power to the fuel pump.
