Good pictures and some nice cars!   :)  Anyone know about how many cars were shown there?

What do you mean? I took pictures of it twice.

besides, I've heard those Supers are afraid camera's steal their souls! :)

TOUCHE!

They dont hide they are just busy being driven while the pretty little cars are parked in their garages.

Haven't been to the Bug-in out there in many years, and was trying to get somewhat of an idea of how it compared to the Bug Run.  Thanks...

Wow that seems harsh Peter.

I am glad that there are two good size ACVW shows to get together and see all my old friends. I guess when you been dubbin in Portland for over 20 years like me that is how you see it. Wasn't the best show, but still good none the less. Other than the big grumpy guy who was setting up the rows of cars....

my irritation is at the lack of return on my $35 investment into the show.

racing was lackluster at best with large between round wait times.
car show really isnt my thing but the organization doesnt seem to be high on the list of things to do for them.
for the money outlaid i would have still had to buy a dash plaque.

hanging out with my friends is the reason that i went to this show this year as even my son remembered that last year i said i wasnt going to go again.

Im thinking that there are lots of free shows that i could get the same kind of fun from and that may just be where things lead for me.  I too am glad that there are two big shows in this area, that one just seems like an overpriced cruise in.

Of course this is simply my opinion and doesnt represent anybody but me.

I am also somewhat disappointed in how "weak" the Portland Bug-In has become.  I was hopeful that the AirheadParts/Treffen cruise from Portland to SoCal would generate more interest in the Bug-In, but that does not appear to be the case.

It really is in the VW community's best interest for there to be two big shows in the Portland area.  I'm not sure what can be done to fix this show (if anything).  They really need to fix the price structure.

Peter would have saved himself at least 15 bucks if the show was at Woodburn.  It really adds up - $25 to show + $10 for his kid at PIR while it would have been $25 to get him, his car, and Max in at Woodburn.  If you aren't showing - you are going to get screwed at PIR - $10 to show up + $10 for the kid + $10 to PARK = $30  (at woodburn it would have been $20 total).

Of course you could park outside -> pay 10 bucks per person and hope your car is still there when you return.  Plus you probably won't want to buy anything big - cause it is about half a mile from the gate to the swap.

Now.... for a good deal - show up on Wednesday nights for the Beaches Cruise-In - $5 bucks (gets you, your car, and a passenger in) - racing, music and great cars!

Speaking of cheap/free shows...

Anyone going to Trafton's?  Our calendar notes that it is this weekend but is that confirmed?  It's a fun show.

I just called Trafton's - sounds like he's going to postpone it until next month due to some surgery he may be having.  Bummer.

Traftons is a VW repair shop on the East side of Portland. Every year around this time he puts on a low key show. He supplies the food and entertainment.

If you get a chance, go to his shop. It's on 158th and stark
