Put my new shoes on today. Found that my old ones were rubbing on the sway bar bracket during sharp turns. New ones clear it. Life is good. Now I just have to get new center caps since the ones on my old shoes are too big.

Prepare for the hefty price tag of $5 each.... ;D
The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

Yes they are nice. I really appreciate you being willing to make the trade. Can't complain when you get the exact rims you want with good tires to boot!   ;D

Well today I finally put in my pop out rear quarter windows. When I got them off CL they were in ok shape and just had the latches. I bought new outer seals and hardware from WCM. Since I'm slowly ditching all the "chrome" on my car I also decided to paint the frames black.

Here they are taped off and ready to spray.

Now with a couple of coats of primer and some satin black top coat.

This morning I started out by putting on the new outer seals. I read a bunch of stuff on The Samba about people fighting with these and taking forever to get them on. What I found is that if you dip them in soapy water and use a spline roller, like you would use for a window screen, it goes pretty well. I think it took me about 30 mins to do both windows.

All the hardware ready to go.

First side cut out.

One side done.

And the other side.

I think it took me about 90 minutes all together to install them. A nice quick project to get some chillin' for the summer.  ;D Between the $55 for the windows and the stuff I ordered I think I'm only about $130 into the whole project. That's pretty darn good compared to what the new kits sell for. Plus it's OEVW glass.

Drive her around so your gas tank is as empty as you can get it so it will be easier to remove. I don't foresee myself being able to lend a hand this weekend as I'm already booked both days.

That's cool. I have kind of a three or four day schedule. Saturday and Sunday are going to be painting and disassembly. I'll start putting things back together on Monday. I'll give a shout out on here if I run into any problems. The only other thing I'm thinking about doing is just getting the other three tie rod ends that have not been replaced yet. I replaced one when I put the drop spindles on. Other than that I think I have everything else that I need.

I'm not going real low. Actually the front of my car is already pretty much at the level I want it. I need the beam to pull the tires in so I don't rub. With the way my driveway is and the speed bumps I have to go over every night at work I couldn't really slam it even if I wanted to. Plus after seeing Matty and Thanny cream their beams I'm none too eager to join that club.  ;)
