  • Time to make the doughnuts....
Custom engine stuff is sucking at the moment.

New cylinders are good fit in the case butttttttttt.......

Not the damn heads.

These are thicker at the top which is good for the longevity of the part, but not advertised as such.  Now I need to have the fancy a$$ heads I have machined to fit them.

Perhaps the lesser part of the AA's would have been better for me here.

To late now.  Time to make the chips fly......
The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

Here we go!

The Mahle's are almost 16mm to the top.

The Revmaster's are almost 19mm.

Here you can see that difference a little better.

In this picture you can see the difference between the two cylinder thickness' at the top.

The Revmaster is a robust item as it appears to be a uniform thickness from top to bottom.

The Mahle's are thick at the base and then taper to the top.

The fins down the barrel towards the bottom are not as tall on the Revmaster but I do not believe that will affect anything.

Here they are side by side.

You can also see that Revmaster has chosen not to use a full circle fin for the third and fourth fin like the Mahle's.
They do however have material cast in place between the fins where the heads studs pass through them for strength I presume.

This brings me to my next roadblock...

They don't fit in the head.

They will just barley fit in the very top of the head opening, no more.

I will be talking with a machinest this week to see what will be simpler to do...
Turn the cylinders down at the top to fit the heads
-OR-
Open the head just enough that it will accept the cylinder.

I also have to find a new home for a set of orphaned Mahle cylinders that were never used...

Soon I will have it built out to the heads.....
