I started building a new sensor mount last night.  The old one worked, but it wasn't as strong as I would have liked.

Just about ready to place an order for the megajolt module - I have built rev 3 of the mounting bracket and rev 2 of the trigger wheel mount.

I have an issue with placement of the coil pack.  It doesn't fit behind the fan shroud except where the fan is (not a good idea in my book).  Actually it does fit, except if I mount it on the firewall it will touch (or almost touch) the fan shroud.  Hardly enough room to connect the wires.

I could put it behind one of the carbs - except I'd have to buy extra long wires to reach the other side.

THe other option is to mount it on the front of the fan shroud..... ugh.

since you are not a purist why not make an access panel in the luggage compartment, having the module in the dry and using some coil bulkhead pass throughs so the wires can be routed in a wicked clean fashion.

more work yes but i think it will pay off in cleanliness....

My plan was to locate the EDIS and MegaJolt modules under the back seat and the coil pack behind the fan shroud.  I may still be able to put the coil pack behind the shroud - I think I may need to consider other means of positioning it.

I would rather not cut into the firewall just yet....

On to phase two of this project.  Hopefully this will wrap up more than a couple days before the 5th of June!  :)

I did some measuring and decided to go ahead and put the coil pack on the firewall (top just left of center).  This will allow a as much as a half inch clearance between the wires and the fan shroud.  The only downside at this point is that the coil pack will be visible and I will need to detach the it from the firewall in order to remove the wires.

The EDIS module has been installed under the back seat.  This is also where the MegaJolt module will live.  The wiring harness (connects EDIS module to coil pack and VR sensor) has been run through the stock location... it is getting kinda crowded in there.

I still need to build a vacuum chamber and run a vacuum line to MegaJolt module under the back seat.  The vacuum chamber is basically a small reservoir that connects the lines coming off the intake manifolds, levels out the differences, and provides a vacuum source for the MegaJolt module.

I also need to install an electric fuel pump.  Any suggestions on where I should mount it?  I was thinking about attaching it to the firewall under the tank on the passenger side.  It appears that there is plenty of room there.

Not too much left to do before the 5th.... other than painting a roof rack, refinishing the wood slats, painting the decklid, cleaning the car. :D

I was also considering mounting it back by the transmission.  There are a places back there that would be close by where the fuel line comes out of the tunnel that would work.

Do some homework on the E-pump. Most are designed to push
the fuel rather than pull it. I'm not sure how much difference your
locations would have, but easier to find out now.

i like to use the rubber grommets that you normally put in bulkheads for running wires through...got the little grove in em...works great keeps the bolts from contacting the metal.  just find some to fit your bolts, and drill the holes slightly larger for the grommets

I love it when a plan comes together....   :D

Roof rack - done
Deck lid - basically done

I have a confirmation number on the shipment of my megajolt module - should show up Tuesday or Wednesday.  I've built my vacuum chamber (to level out the vacuum between the two manifolds) and run the required wiring and vacuum line to the area under the back seat.  The coil pack is mounted and wires staged for plugging into the spark plugs.  I have my trigger wheel and latest VR sensor mounting bracket installed.

I suspect all that is left it to install the resistors on the plugs, remove the old dizzy, and power up the new system.  Should make for a interesting finish....
