i would've loved to go AND provide my iPod Playlist!!....but sadly  :'(, my daughter is wrapped up in that droll ballet cra...er...Stuff...and she has 4 big parts in the Nutcracker this year, and there is no option of missing the last performance.

I guess I should be more supportive, I really should, but really, I would take sitting in the rain EVERY SATURDAY and every practice if it were soccer, or softball, or Karate or SOMETHING.  I just can't seem to wrap my head around it.  Don't get me wrong, I am very proud of my daughter.  I'd just rather be skating!! (especially after an entire weekend of Sugar Plum fairies!!!)

This should be a fun activity, I know it was last year.  I would encourage all (that can find the time) to attend this.  It is very worth it!!!!!  maybe this year it won't get snowed out... ;)  wouldn't that be somethin  :o

Brian, over the last few years I have sat through my share of 3-4 hour dance recitals just to watch my kid perform for 3-5 minutes, so I feel your pain brother! ;D

hmmmmm.....maybe in hindsight we should have called this the Volksters "Holiday" Party?  Or the RCV ChristmaHanuQuanzika party!  ;D  Probably more PC, eh?

Anyways!  The White elephant gift exchange is quite fun...basically you bring in some parifinalia, usually in our case it ends up being used car parts (still usable) or collectible goodies, nothing real expensive or fancy...simply something that people can use.

Everyone brings in their gifts and places them on a table (preferrably wrapped or bagged, makes it more fun).  Everyone that brought a gift draws a number from a hat.  That is the order in which people recieve gifts.  So basically, If I get number 1, I get first pick of the gifts.  so i go choose a package and unwrap it for everyone to see.

Here's where the fun parts start!!  so the NEXT person now has a choice...they can choose a gift from the table, or they can STEAL the gift from person 1.  at this point then person 1 has to chose another gift from the table.  once a gift is stolen, it cannot be stolen back.  HOWEVER, person 3 can steal the stolen gift from person 2, and so on and so forth.

Correct me if I am wrong people, but i do believe a gift can only be stolen twice?  So you see, being the LAST person to chose a gift really makes it fun, cuz you get to have a pic of whatever everoyone else got!!  it's really a lot of fun.  And maybe "STEAL" is not the correct word to use here, but basically you get it.

I had to have this explained to me last year, so don't feel bad!!!   ;D  ;D

the goal is really to have fun with gift "exchanging", and it's a great group thing.

If you would like to participate in the gift exchange please bring a functional car part or other VW theme type item and prepare to play along as we unwrap, steal and swap for fun! :o

Munchie food will be provided for your grazing, but please bring your own beverages! (no alcohol please) :-X

Skating not mandatory but fun is encouraged! ;)

Meet at the Fred Meyers parking lot and cruise along to the park!  (Leaving at 2:30 pm from the Beaverton Fred Meyers just off of Hwy 217) ;D
