Nice to see a lot of Volksters came out to your shop day.. When I was patching my floor pan, there was a couple of places that the weld would not stay, so my brother came over and helped me fiberglass the spots. After doing that I applied PUR-15 over it so the rust will not come back.

Those are some of my tricks I have used.

I used Rust Bullet instead of PUR-15... incredible product.  My floors were is decent shape when I painted them with RustBullet, but it still made a huge difference.  It was almost like laminating a layer of steel over the existing stuff.

the east coast Volksrodders use a product called MasterSeries.

it is supposed to be easier to use than POR-15 while lasting longer too.

i have seen many of the fine projects over there slathered in it and i have to say if i ever get that excited i will use it over the other products out there.

and on the east coast they have major rust repair issues.
The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

Hi all!  Thanks Jeff for coming over to work on the car yesterday, he got the driver's side front fender into good shape, and shaved the antenna hole nicely!

I tackled the major problem of the drivers side rear wheel well.  Lotsa rust, and found even more on the lower front wheel well area.  Hmmm, I had to figure out how to get the metal to curve around the wheel well.  Here is the result, will be grinding it smooth tomorrow.

Here is the view from inside the wheel well, notice the nicely charred undercoating. That was fun!

And here I am working on the front part of the wheel well.

I will be hosting another welding / shop day this coming Sunday, Oct. 4th. All are invited.  I think we may be able to finish the majority of the welding, except for floor pans, as those I need to budget for.

Start time about 11:00-12:00 depending on you-all's schedules!

YES!!!! I am finished with the driver's side wheel well!  It was a nightmare, lotsa rust and so lotsa patches, but it is done!  Plenty more to do on Sunday though...

I even fixed the area under the rear corner where I reached up, and rust fell out...

Still need to do the passenger's side in the same spot.

Just a reminder: Shop day on Sunday at 11:00 or 12:00, make it as you can!  All are welcome.  I would like to separate the body from the pan if possible, welding needs allowing of course...

Wow, Forest grove Iron is great!  Dropped about 40 bucks on metal, including two sheets of 20" x 40" 16 guage, some 1" square tube, and 1/2" square tube.  Floor pans will be mine!!!!!!
