Well, due to a few financial issues. I cannot get a pump and will be dropping insurance coverage on my Baja and probably cannot even renew my membership. Hopefully have it straightened out after a few months. But will see. Till then ...   :undecided:

Hello All.  Just a quick update.  I've completely redone my fuel system. I still couldnt afford the new pump so I figured there is probably a reason this one was "quitting".  I think a combination of being located where the radiator blows hot air as well as the fuel getting hot being recirculated without returning to the tank may have contributed.

I had another tank that I "won" as a white elephant give 2 years ago. I welded in a return spigot and ran a new line from front to back for the return fuel. I relocated the pump to the interior or the car under the back seat. The bad part about this is the pump emits a high pitched wine. The good thing is I can hear if the pump quits.  It made it to work today (Hour and 20 minute drive) which is a good thing.  Now I have to figure out WTF is wrong with the wipers....  See thread in the "buy" section if anyone has a 12v Wiper assembly....

Its good to see that you are still working on it and getting it all worked out.

The worst performance mod is whatever you're limited to because you convinced yourself (or others) that anything bigger or faster was too extreme for a street car.

I've not been able to work on my Baja much.  With spring starting to warm up I have to deal with my Bee's as well as get things ready to ride for the summer.

Not to fear though, I have another aircooled ride ...

I'll get back onto the Baja beast soon though.

Well, Summer is over and fall is here. Bee's are calming down, most of our camping/riding trips are over and done with. Looks like I may have time again to work on the Baja.  I finally purchased the new fuel pumps and will once again be redoing my fuel system. My passenger door hinges wont barely move.  So I took the door off and I had another that I put on.

Plan is to have it ready to go again by Saturdays Beach cruise.   :2up:

Well, Added a low pressure pump below the tank to push the fuel to the back of the car, then replaced the high pressure FI pump. so far so good. New pump has a really high pitched whine  like the old one sadly. Eventually I am going to have to find a place to move it outside of the car.

Sounds like time to build a VW motor for some reliability, lol...
Who knew that a cheap little car designed for the masses at the whim of an evil dictator could be so very cool more than 6 decades later?
