We will be providing Hot dogs and Hamburgers and ask that you plan on your own drinks and maybe a side dish to share.

We had a great time last year and plan to attend the cruise this year again!  Hey!  Make sure the cool golf balls on a string game comes again...that was fun!

Looks like weather at the beach will be pleasantly cooler -- high of 62 degrees forecast. Dress accordingly -- take a sweatshirt or similar.

We are going the same weekend as SOLV so we expect the beach access to be groomed.

Due to my work schedule and my wife's school schedule, I have missed anything that resembles fun this year (Including the Gaston car show 3 blocks from my house).  I'd kind of like to get the ol' rust bucket out to stretch her legs before we call it a summer. 

Can someone give me a bit more info on this?  What happens when we get to the beach?  Is it kid friendly? Does everyone head back at a certain time or is it everyman for himself?

It is kid friendly! Has been laid back in the past with a few games and kit flying and such. Was planning a BBQ this year just to bring the group together. I will let you know more on that later juts watch the post.

In the past we just kind of break up and head back on our own. I figure if we get there and do an late lunch early dinner :) and a friendly bollo ball competition, we could then cruise back toward the East in groups.

We would all like for you to come hang out with us.

4th Annual Beach Cruise Saturday, Sept 19, 2009

Meeting @ 11am at the North Plains Chevron, 10025 NW Glencoe Road, North Plains, OR. 97133 (just off Hwy 26)

Leaving @ 12 noon, destination Del Ray Beach State Park (just north of Gearhart)

Come join the Volksters for a fun day at Del Ray Beach!  We’ll be cruising from the North Plains Chevron to Del Ray Beach around 12 noon.  This family friendly event is open to all Volksters, Dub lovers and anyone else that feels like tagging along.  No “Vee-Dub” required, just encouraged.  On the beach we will be having a barbeque with hamburgers, hotdogs & all the fixins.  Those planning to join us are asked to bring a beach friendly side dish to share (possibly chips, cookies, potato salad etc.) & please bring your own drinks.  Plates, napkins & plastic ware will be provided.  On the beach we will be holding a “Bolo Ball Death Match” (just kidding about the “death” part) winner take all, with extreme bragging rights up for grabs!

as the the girl car has trouble with some modern paved road, i think it will be staying home in favor of the ole' jeep...ill be on the sand/ tow strap at the ready ;) :D

A BBQ!  Great idea!  We will try and bring our 5' fold out camp table and anything else we can fit up on the rack.  I'll bring a good pasta/greek salad that's always a hit too.  I'm also going to pack the baseball mits and a couple of balls if anyone just wants to play catch, or whatever.  See ya'all there! -Charlotte

Soooo.... I have a friend coming with me to the beach and she really likes older bugs and wants one of her own some day. But in the mean time is anyone willing to take her for a ride on the beach or just somewhere after we get out there? I'm willing to share a ride in my GTI.
