Thanny, you got me thinking about having to hack off the bumper brackets to get the beam out. Well, as I thought from previous inspection, my brackets are NO where near the beam. Now, according to the Bentley, this doesn't even become an issue till '74...so, you sure you have a '71????

My bug spans 3 years.
The VIN, engine and such are '71
The pan is a '73
The top is '74

It is registered as a '71 because of th VIN  8)

Started to put the front beam extender in today.  I have to cut where teh spare tire sits so that everything can fit.  I had to stop around 10:30pm because it was getting late.
Tomorrow I will do more cutting and hopefully get it in  ;D

Finished putting in the front beam extender here is a little taste of what it looks like

I still need to brace the frame head, install stearing, fuel tank, and patch up here and there.

Since I doubt I'll be able to paint the bug green by Bug Run, I decided to go with a two tone of purple and white

Some of you know that at BugRun I had a some issues with my brakes locking, and it resulted in the wheel bearings not being present causing the rotor to rub on the caliper.
Swapped out the wheel bearing and the bug is rolling again, but on the rear it seems like the pads are still rubbing on the rotor (even with the caliper bleeder wide open).  I can still puch the bug, maybe the pads will wear out some and it will be ok again who knows.  I'll keep you guys posted on more fail  :rotflmao:
