As you all may or may not know the cruise is on May 3, 2009 (Sunday). Some of us are planning to head up there on Saturday and drive back on Monday.

I know others will be heading up there so I booked my room at the Courtyard by Marriott in Federal Way, which is also the starting location (See address below). The cost for my room was $109 a night, about $120 after taxes.

Doing some looking around at plans for the drive up and stuff to do while there.
If you missed it some of us are heading up on Saturday and planning a few things for the afternoon.
One thing currently in the works is driving into Bremerton and riding the ferry into Seattle ($15 per car under 20ft).
Depending on the activities in Seattle will help decide when we leave from here.
The ferry from Bremerton leave around 11:30 AM, 12:35 PM and then 3:00 PM (other times too but the gap between 12:00 and 3:00 is my point)
I know some people are coming from the East side or South of Portland because of that we are looking at meeting at the I-5 and I-205 junction in Washington.
The drive to Bremerton is mapped out at about 3 hours (
Proposed driving route
). Which means no stops on the way, we need to leave from the meeting spot by 8:00 AM for the 11:00 AM ferry (line up 20 minutes prior) or by 9:00 AM for the 12:00 PM ferry.
Now I am not sure of all the stuff people want to try and do at in Seattle
Baseball at 6:10 PM $10-$50 (
Seatlle Mariners Baseball
)
Pike Street (
Pike Place Market
) 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Ivar's Seafood Acres of Clams for dinner (
Dinner :)
)
Other suggestions? I have it that the group so far is:
Todd and Kimberly
Mark and Heidi
Bryan, Erika and Taylor
Kirsten and me
Any others (sorry if I missed you).
Plans can change as we can't stuff all of the above in one afternoon, or can we ;)

The Place to meet in Washington is the Gee Creek Reststop. I belive it is 3 miles past where I-5 and I-205 come together at mile maker 11.

Why would I buy new quality parts even if I had to save for them? I mean, I can buy used poop for half the price with no Warranty, or better yet I could re engineer it myself and hack it on there and then cry when it doesn't work.

My daughter really wants to go see the space needle. and she would really dig riding the monorail. those two things can be combined, cuz you park a few blocks down and ride the monorail to the needle!
I would like to do the underground City tour. I think its like a hour long or somethin. but I can do that some other time too, doesn't have to be on this trip, because I know time is a premium. Just my thoughts...
I am good with the Rest stop at 8...? I guess that depends on when everyone else wants to get out of bed ;D The sooner the better.

A lot of people have expressed ideas of what to do while in Seattle. I have come to the realization that we can’t possibly squeeze all of them into one day. So we have some choices; everyone do what I want :D …ORRRR…. travel together and then split off near the activity you want to do. If there are others looking to do what you are interested in, stick together or meet there.
I am either headed as far as Olympia and then taking 101 or possibly up to Tacoma to take the 16 to Bremerton. Either way I am planning to go the long way around and ride the ferry into Seattle. Because of this I am planning on leaving from the Gee Creek rest stop (Mile Post 11?) just north of the I-5 /205 exchange by 7 am.
Here is a list of events with times and fees where they were available for downtown Seattle. Post your intentions and buddy up if you can.
Parking garage at 5th Ave N; entrances on Republican & Harrison Streets. (Open 6am -2am cost $7 - $15) (Directly adjacent to Seattle Center)

Fun Forest Amusements (open 12-6, kiddy rides & major rides)
Also at Fun Forest, no pricing available; mini-golf, laser tag, climbing wall, arcade and carnival games)
1 ticket $1.00
10 tickets $9.00
20 tickets $17.00
40 tickets $32.00
60 tickets $45.00
List of Rides, height restrictions and # of tickets:
Windstorm Roller Coaster -- at least 4 1/2' -- 5 tickets
Bumper Cars -- at least 4 1/2 ' -- 2 tickets
Wild River -- at least 4' -- 3 tickets

Pacific Science Center (open 10-6 adults $11, age 6-12 $8, IMAX adult $8 IMAX ages 6-12 $7)
Ride the Ducks Seattle (adults $25, youth $15)
Space Needle Observation Deck (open until 10 pm
Adult (ages 14-64) $16
Youth (ages 4-13) $9)
Monorail between Seattle Center / Westlake Center Mall
($4 round trip for adults $1.50 round trip for youth)
(Walking approximately 4 blocks to Pike Place Market from Westlake Center)
Pike Place Market (Open 10-6, no admission fee)
Seattle Aquarium (Open 9:30-6, adults $16, youth $10.50) Located on the Waterfront.
Mariners Game (starts at 6:10 pm, cheap seats around $10) Safeco Field
If you would like to tag along with us you are more than welcome. If not, I will see you on Sunday at the Cruise. Two days of constant face time...hmmm… plan accordingly :P
I just don't want someone to feel like they have to forgo something they want just because it's not on the list.
It is about 3 hours from Gee Street to Bremerton and then you still have an hour ferry ride to Seattle. Long trip that is why I am looking to leave so early. If you were to go from Gee Street straight to Federal way it is 2 hours (
Trip to Federal Way
). To Seattle only adds 20 minutes (
Trip to Seattle
).

so were not all cruising together? I kind of thought that was the point? but,,, ok I'm game I guess I will be going up I-5, not because I do not want to go into Bremerton, but because there is no way I will be up that early the day after my Birthday, plus I do not want to have a car full of stuff in the city parking lot. So I guess I will have a Solo cruise.
As far as the space needle Kimberley and I will definatly be doing that, and we are down for the underground city as well. Space needle and Seattle center are better at night so during the day we were thinking about Pike street and the underground, and possibly the Aquarium. Then having some dinner and jumping the Monorail to the center.

Looks like we have at least four cars heading up there! Sorry to hear that Neil and Jeff can't make it but thank you for letting us know.
So for those heading up Saturday see you at Gee Creek Rest Area around 8:00 am. I believe we plan to depart from there by 8:30.
