After a mishap, the interior handle on the side door of my '73 Type 2 Campmobile broke.  It's kind of long, about 8-9 inches or so, and it's made of a light-gray plastic.  It connects to the door in the middle of the handle, with a short handle on top and a longer handle on the bottom.

Is this handle difficult to replace?  Where can I find one?

I found a handle at bus-boys.com, so I can get something.  But, it's a single handle, versus the dual handle on my vehicle.  I have a feeling that the latter was original with the '73 bus, but I'm not sure.

It would be nice to find a replacement with something that was original.

After speaking to www.bus-boys.com, they forwarded me to Way Out Salvage at 479-665-4126.  They had a used handle in stock.

good job on the tracking skills.

Thanks.  In fact, received the handle.  Needed a little cleaning with BonAmi, but looks great now.  They guy let me know it was a little dirty.

What killed me on this thing is that it was my fault.  It's sort of a funky handle, so from the beginning, I liked the handle.  But in the process of removing it to get at the lock's key code, I remounted it horizontally (versus vertically), thinking that it would be more convenient in that position.

Of course, as soon as I slammed open the side door, the handle broke when it hit the frame.

Now tell me, IS THAT STUPID?!!  (Rhetorical question.)

Anyway, I'm glad to have it replaced.  Otherwise, it would have taken me a long time to come to peace with my own stupidity.  (If ever.)
