The Rose City Volksters would like to extend our deep appreciation to those that made the 24th Annual Northwest Bug Run a great success.
Thank you to this years show sponsors: HM Motorsports, House of Ghia, T-Line, and Canby Import Auto
One of our goals this year was to make the show area more “club oriented” by establishing club corrals. We believe that involvement in your local VW club is a great way to support and grow the VW community. The Volksters would like to thank the following clubs for filling the club corrals: Absolutely VW Club , The DDB, and Southern Oregon VW Club. In addition we’d like to recognize the Good Times VW and Mid-Columbia VW Clubs for their attendance and support of the show.
Great weather and overwhelming turnout made the 24th Annual Northwest Bug Run a record setting event. The full list of winners are posted on the Northwest Bug Run website. Here are the official numbers from the event:
2008 2009
Racers 87 77
Show 159 210
Swap 136 183
Spectators 1827 1936
The blow-up motor and the 50/50 raffle benefited the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Portland (msoregon.org). The blow-up motor ran for 36 seconds and raised $356 while the 50/50 raffle drew in $270, with a total of $313 going to MS of Portland. Thank you to everyone that help make this donation possible!

Good news and bad news to share.
First the bad news….
The old website experienced a catastrophic failure about 10 days ago. As a result we lost a good portion of our forum posts from mid-February to the day of the failure. All users that registered with the old site between mid-February and now will need to re-register.
Now the good news….
The new website and forum is up and running. Please use your previous username and password to login to the forum. You will need to upload your avatars again. The new forum will take some adjustment to get used to and we’ll be tweaking the site as needed to make it run smooth. Please be patient as we bring new capabilities online.

Due to the number of VW events scheduled in April and May, and the need to dedicate additional time and resources to this year’s NW Bug Run, the officers of the Rose City Volksters have decided to postpone this year’s Spring Kickoff to a later date. We are looking at dates in the late summer/early fall timeframe. When a date has been set we will post the information here.

The Good Times VW Club of Eugene, Oregon recently announced that, after many years of service, they are ending their involvement as co-hosts of the Northwest Bug Run at the Woodburn Dragstrip effective immediately. While disappointed with this decision, we are grateful for the hard work and effort that the Good Times VW Club put into growing this event. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
The Rose City Volksters are committed to continuing our involvement as the host club for the Northwest Bug Run. We look forward to working with the owners of the Woodburn Dragstrip and continue to build upon and grow the Northwest Bug Run. We intend to put nothing less than 100% of our effort and resources into this event.
The Northwest Bug Run is held the Saturday after Memorial Day at the Woodburn Dragstrip in Woodburn, Oregon. Now in its 24th year, the Northwest Bug Run has grown into one of the top VW events on the west coast and the premier VW event in the Pacific Northwest. The 2009 event is scheduled for May 30th, 2009.
